Standard of Painting

Since apprenticing under my father, it has been clear that there is a right and wrong way to to provide a product. The standard of painting has always been to prepare the walls (Blemish correction), Prime the walls (Bring the walls to a blank slate and seal in any defects), and Paint the walls (Deliver a beautiful final product). This process is not easy or necessarily cheap. However, it is the right way.

Over the years manufacturers of paint have created a more cost effective solution, Paint & Primer in one. But does it meet our standard? Given the proper wall conditions and manufacturer, Yes. With this option we will be able to offer a more competitive price at the discretion of the customer.

Paint & Primer in One

You will find that most painters today will be using a "paint and primer in one" when providing you with an estimate. This paint has a priming solution in it for better coverage. By cutting the traditional "Prep & Paint" process, estimates can be more competitive. As long as your walls aren't heavily damaged or too dark, application of this product may be right for you.

Primer

Primer is a special type of paint used to prepare the surface for Painting and is applied after wall correction and prior to color paint application. When applied to the surface, it covers blemishes and darker colors that would normally flash through the selected paint color. Using Primer is a guarantee that the selected paint color will be true to selection.

Quality Paint

After Prepping the surface, it is important to use a good quality product. Not all paint is created equal. That is why Proto Painting is the second generation to stand by Sherwin Williams products.
